Custom Built Cabinets

Green Cabinetworks is a subsidiary of Vigilant Woodworks. For over 15 years, we have provided home and business owners with custom built cabinets, millwork and manufactured wood products to their exacting specifications. Green Cabinetworks takes this to a whole new level. We have spent the last two years refining our capabilities and redefining ourselves as one of the greenest and most environmentally conscious woodworking companies on the planet. Some of our accomplishments are explained in more detail below.

  • We became an FSC certified woodworking company. One of few in the world.
  • We have a LEED AP and a LEED Green Associate on staff.
  • We have converted our facility to recycle 100% of our wood waste.
  • We have installed the most energy efficient lighting systems to reduce grid use.
  • We are CARB I & II compliant using all NAUF panel stock on our projects.
  • We utilize all water-based finishes with the lowest percentages of VOC's available.

Additionally...
  • We reuse and recycle close to 90% of our paper waste.
  • We reduced our use of plastic by close to 80% throughout our facility.
  • We only use natural cleaning products throughout our facility.

- Sustainable Palm Oil -

General Mills is the latest company to announce it will switch to palm oil supplied through sustainable and responsible sources. According to a report from Greenbiz, the company hopes to meet this goal by 2015 and purchase palm oil that does not threaten the rainforest or its biodiversity. Other companies, including Unilever, Nestle and Burger King have changed their palm oil suppliers in recent years, while Cadbury eliminated it from its dairy milk chocolate bars. Cleaning product company Seventh Generation offers certification credits to its suppliers using responsible and sustainable practices to support their programs.

- Largest Wind Farm -

A Britain offshore wind farm is now the world’s largest and can potentially power 200,000 homes, according to Yahoo! Green. The farm has 100 turbines, with plans to install a total of 314 and was built off the south east coast by Swedish energy company Vattenfall. The farm is part of an effort to increase Britain’s renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions.
